Frequently Asked Questions

Common answers about Windows setup, ESC/POS receipt testing, TCP/IP printing, local data, trial limits, and Full Version activation.

Product and compatibility

What does POS Printer Emulator do?

It listens for POS receipt print jobs on Windows, renders a live receipt preview, and exposes parsed ESC/POS commands, raw bytes, warnings, and job details for testing and troubleshooting.

Do I need a physical receipt printer?

No. The emulator is specifically designed to let you test receipt output without purchasing or connecting printer hardware.

Which versions of Windows are supported?

The current 64-bit installer supports Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Does it work with Epson receipt printers?

It supports common Epson-compatible ESC/POS workflows and includes guided setup for a TM-T88V-style Windows queue. Model-specific commands can vary, so complete final production validation with the exact hardware.

Does it support every ESC/POS command?

No emulator can assume every vendor extension. The Commands view identifies recognized instructions and flags unsupported data so you know what requires further testing.

Connection and setup

Which network port does it use?

The listener uses TCP port 9100, commonly called RAW printing or the JetDirect-style network-printer port.

Can my POS run on another computer?

Yes. Point the POS to the emulator computer’s local IPv4 address and port 9100. Both devices must be on a trusted network and the Windows firewall must allow the listener.

Can I create a Windows printer queue?

Yes. Use the application’s Printer Setup Wizard or follow the manual Standard TCP/IP port guide. Configure RAW protocol on port 9100.

Why did I receive a blank receipt?

The POS may have sent only initialization or control bytes. Select the job and inspect Raw data and Commands to see exactly what arrived.

Privacy and offline use

Is receipt data stored in the cloud?

No. Receipt contents, raw bytes, and eligible Full Version job history stay on the local Windows device. The service may receive privacy-safe registration, licensing, and aggregate usage events, but not receipt contents.

Can receipt testing work without internet access?

Core capture, rendering, diagnostics, and local history work locally. Some registration, purchase, account, or license-management actions may require an internet connection.

Trial and licensing

What are the Trial Version limits?

The Trial Version allows five emulated print jobs per day, keeps no historical jobs beyond the session, adds a TRIAL watermark, and locks premium features.

What does the Full Version include?

It includes unlimited print jobs, full local job history, no watermark, print/PDF exports, and access to every feature.

How do I activate the Full Version?

Purchase a license, open Settings in the installed app, enter your customer or company name, email, and unique activation key, then validate it. The Full Version unlocks immediately without a separate download.

Can I uninstall everything later?

Yes. The Windows uninstaller removes the desktop application, background service, firewall rule, shortcuts, and related application components.
